This blog is about the story of my family here in America. We arrived in the 1630s as Puritans, and became the common folk of the New World.

Who speaks for freedom?

Some of the most eloquent writing and speaking is aimed at attacking the basic freedoms of America. And these people can be very good. Some are funny, which is a masterful way of slipping something by that has twisted logic, or lack of information, or is just downright incorrect. One of my favorite expressions is about someone who has *all of the convictions of the uninformed*.

There really hasn't been an eloquent speaker in defense of the freedoms of the western world since Winston Churchill. But you needn't worry. There are still a lot of people who know what America is all about, what is in the Constitution, what is in the Bill of Rights. These people may not be very eloquent, or, like my father, who fought in World War II, they may not speak of it at all.

But rest assured that freedom speaks for itself.
