This blog is about the story of my family here in America. We arrived in the 1630s as Puritans, and became the common folk of the New World.

Pearl Harbor Day

Today is December 7th. If you are wondering why people are flying American flags today, it is in memory of a day that will live in infamy. Those words are part of a speech given by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1941, after the bombing by the Japanese on America's Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Although it's important to let old wounds  heal, it's also important to remember. Here is exactly what FDR said

...December 7, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan....

My parents were in their early teens when this happened. My father, George Hall, enlisted in the Marines when he graduated from high school and was sent to Okinawa.

There isn't anything that I can say that can add to what has been said about the day that Pearl Harbor was attacked. So I won't say anything, I will just remember.
