This blog is about the story of my family here in America. We arrived in the 1630s as Puritans, and became the common folk of the New World.

Christmas songs explained - I'll Be Home for Christmas

If you've ever really listened to this beautiful, bittersweet, Christmas song, you know that this person, contrary to the title, will not be home for Christmas. If you've ever been away from home at Christmastime, you will understand.

I'll be home for Christmas
You can count on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree

Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love light gleams.
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams.

A wonderfully haunting rendition sung by Sarah McLachlan.
