This blog is about the story of my family here in America. We arrived in the 1630s as Puritans, and became the common folk of the New World.
Who won the French and Indian War?
If you ask most people "who won the French and Indian War?", and if they've heard of it, they may guess the French, or the Indians. Actually, it was the British. And the British, of course, were my family, living in America. This was a conflict between France and Great Britain, who had been enemies for a very long time. Here in America, the Indians allied with the French.
The French and Indian War is the only instance of a member of my family dying in military service. William Hall, of Bedford county, Virginia, died on the first of May, 1757. He was in his late fifties. His son, Hezekiah, who fought alongside his father, survived the war, and went on to have a family, which is why I am here writing this story today.
